Special Session on Enterprise Ontology - SSEO 2011
Call for Papers
Chair

Scope

The lack of a well-founded theory about the construction and operation of enterprise information systems is a common complaint.
In current practice, often even the most basic notions like 'action' or 'process' are not precisely defined.
Enterprise ontology is a tool that may offer descriptive and prescriptive capacities and help identifying opportunities to improve the enterprise architecture. This special session welcomes R&D work that addresses the issue of understanding the organization of an enterprise and subsequently help analyzing, (re)designing, and (re)engineering it. It is necessary to separate the stable essence of an enterprise from the variable way in which it is realized and implemented. This ontology-centric approach may cover numerous issues in an integrated way - business processes, in and outsourcing, information systems, management control, staffing and many others.
